Story

I have always enjoyed rocketry, and have always wanted to get my high power rocket license, so when I had the opportunity to make my own during my first year of university, I did just that.

I decided that, since making an L1 rocket is a relatively simple task, to make mine more difficult. That was why I bought a small diameter L1 & L2 rocket, which makes it more difficult to assemble. I also was initially going to have my custom flight computer, the Northstar V2 (NSV2) control the pyrotechnics of the rocket, to which I was suggested by multiple people to have it as just a passenger for its first flight. Instead, NSV2 was used as a GPS to track the rocket.

The rocket was launched at an event called Large Dangerous Rocket Ships 42 (LDRS 42), where it was launched on the Saturday. Although it was pretty windy, the flight was nominal, with the rocket going up straight and deploying its parachute at apogee.

Although a relatively simple project, this allowed me to put into action what I had known about rocketry to practice, which will be helpful in future projects.
